Sassy Specs!

Woah, it has been a while. I have started a new job which is why is been so long! I am now an optician at the lovely Eye Spy Optical! Its awesome and they hooked me up with these awesome Rapp frames (they are Canadian made!)

They gave me quite the introduction on their blog. Its a sweet place with some lovely ladies and really awesome specs. I have been coveting a pair of Francis Kleins there for … well the whole time I’ve worked there.

In other news:

Now the garden is growing! It amazes me every day that not everything has died, its still strange to see stuff that I planted grow and produce food… or flowers.  I have had some help from some really lovely ladies and one tiny human. Image

I have also updated my etsy shop and am looking forward to completely stocking the store after I finish up a few secret projects that are due at the end of the month.

The Attic, is currently in a slight full swing.. meaning its summer so some members are working in other countries and Sammy and Alicia have shows coming up. We will have blog to follow our process for that shortly. Its been really exciting to be challenged and stimulated creatively.

Spring is really making a slow try of it here in Chicago, well now the weather can’t seem to really make up its mind. Its very strange to have this much green so early.
This week I have been working to get part of my backyard ready to build a raised bed garden, in hopes of avoiding the disaster of last years gardening. I had planed some veggies, taters and a few others… well my landlord “cleaned up” the backyard which really meant he mowed all the plants down and ripped everything up from my garden. It was too late in the season to start over. So this year I was inspired by this pin I found.

Sample Square Foot Garden

Through some research in Square Foot Gardening and some advice from Julie of the South Side Horties I have started the painstaking process of prepping to build the actual garden box. Our back yard has been overgrown for some time.

While digging up all the unwanted plants ( I relocated some of them) I found scads of pearl onions!

Pearl Onions!!!

We will be building the box this week, weather permitting of course! I am so excited to get my hands dirty and finally get a garden growing in our back yard!
